This is a lovely and original little house set in a beautiful and picturesque biological "finca" or estate, boasting a great variety of fruit trees and vegetables being cultivated all year round. The El Alpendre house was awarded a special refurbishment prize by the "Cabildo Insular", the island’s local authority. It’s construction goes back to the end of the 19th century, and was originally used to house animals, cows and goats. The house backs onto primitive caves which years ago also housed cattle. It’s restoration was carried out with great care taken to preserve these special characteristics, with special mention going to the bathroom, located in the cave, with its pieces standing out among the stonework. The primitive stable with its trough are still conserved on the outside. The antique water tank has been restored, keeping it in its original style, now converted into a small swimming pool for the use and enjoyment of the guests staying there. The estate’s owner works in biological farming, so he can often be found carrying out jobs in and around the estate itself. The owner’s wife works as an artist who also teaches a painting technique in silk. She is considered one of the best female watercolour artists in the islands, and some of her works can actually be seen in the very houses here.
