description
Los Cardones was built at the end of the XIX century to be used as farmed-based accommodation, by Juan Mara Barreto, upon his return from Cuba, where he had emigrated some years before. Some of the materials used in the constructions were: stone, gravel, bricks and clay tiles that were mixed in hand made furnaces. For the ceilings, floors, doors and windows wood from the Canarian pine was used, known as "tea".
At that time there were no means of communication other than the rural paths, which is why Los Cardones was refuge for many people that moved from one place to another. This was the case until 1953 when the infrastructure improved.
It continued to be farm-based accommodation until 1994, in which year it was renovated for rural tourism purposes. It received the name "Los Cardones" because of the plants in the beautiful and well-looked alter gardens that surround it. Its architecture remains unchanged, and still today you can see the gravel and stones in its faade, as well as the clay bricks of the interior.
The owners have paid special attention to the furnishing and decorating of this house, creating a comfortable atmosphere and one that is most fitting with a rural house. They have even preserved some objects that are as old as the house itself, which add to the warm and inviting ambient. Some of the main features are: hand made items of furniture, heavy drape curtains, the wine barrel converted into a table for the television and infinite amount of peculiarities that will make your stay at Los Cardones an unforgettable experience.
It is the flowers, the bushes and the fruit trees that welcome the guest, inviting them to spend some days of relaxation on the large terraces, from where you can see beautiful sea views and sunsets that are to be enjoyed on this island.
