Hoya del Prado is a small building dating back to the beginning of the 20thCentury, when it was surrounded by agricultural developments. It was a small storage place where cattle - goats and cows, food and farm tools were kept. In 1990, it was totally reformed to become the house it is today. The original characteristics belonging to the typical architecture of the rural areas in Gran Canaria were strictly maintained. The house faces the south and is totally isolated on a plot of land with a surface area of some 30,000 square metres. From the wide terrace you can access the lounge (where hay used to be stored) and from here to the kitchen-diner, bathroom and bedroom that has a double bed and a loft.

El Prado is a beautiful area in the municipality of Valleseco. The area is full of vegetation and is gently sloping in the south where it borders with the villages of Valleseco and Lanzarote. It borders in the north with the impressive ravine of "La Virgen", a stretch of 9 kilometres with continuous slopes that make it a joy for walking fans. An example of what the European forests of thousands of years ago must have been are the laurisilva that still remaining in the areas. The house is situated in a dip (hoya) which is where its name comes from, at some 1100 metres above sea level. The land is full of species such as the Canarian laurisilva with beautiful examples of laurel, hackberry, avocado, holly, acokantera spectabilis, briarwood, etc.
